Welcome to 6th grade! A new school year is starting and I can't wait to meet you all in person! I'd like to share a little bit about me before we formally meet. I am entering my 28th year of teaching and my 20th year at Pine View. I was a student at Pine View from 4th - 12th grade just like you! I have had so many happy memories at Pine View and it's where I have met some of my closest life long friends. It is a gift that I am able to continue to build beautiful relationships with my students and their families.
After Pine View I attended Flagler College in St. Augustine to study Deaf Education. My first teaching position was 1st grade. I taught 1st grade for 3 years before my principal asked if I would take over the gifted program where I taught K-5th grade for 7 different schools in Manatee County. I taught there for a total of 7 years before my high school mentor called me asking if I would return home to Pine View and teach social studies and I did, which was one of my best decisions! I have taught art classes, deaf summer school and have been teaching 6th grade World History here at Pine View now for the last 20 years. I still work with deaf students and use sign language as I am a sponsor of the HS Serteen Club here at PV where we learn about sign language, work with students at Oak Park and teach others about deaf awareness and sign language basics.
My husband, Brian, and I have two amazing daughters. Verite is entering 9th grade at Pine View and Avelline will be with us in 6th grade! My family is the most important thing to me. We are all very very close. I have 3 sisters: one is a an artist and works as a silversmith in NYC, one works for Ringling College at their SAM museum and one lives in Portland Oregon (where our family photo was taken above) and is a musician. Most recently, she was a member of the band Modest Mouse and has played with The Decemberists. As you can tell we love the arts! It's no wonder in my spare time I love to do art (all mediums) I also enjoy spending time in nature, trying new delicious gluten free vegetarian dishes, listening to music, learning new things, and spending time with my family. I am looking forward to working with you and your family and can't wait to meet and learn all about you! See you soon! xoxo ~ Mrs. Jenna Molinaro
